Advertisement, Ad
Ad; Advert; Public promotion of products, services or ideas. Print or online advertisement.
Originally it was rather an announcement, but with the invention of printing it has transformed into
modern advertising. With the widely available electronic mail and access to the Internet, advertising reached
millions of people, without them leaving their computer. Banner ads are becoming more important for marketers,
because they allow to tailor the message to the needs of the user. The content of ads presented f.e. with search engines relate
usually to the search word. E-mail provider relate content of ads to keywords found in the correspondence. Smart advertising
allows laser sharp addressing of potential customers, thus maximizing the impact of each marketing dollar spent. Since many large advertising agencies were once located on Madison Avenue in New York City,
the term "Madison Avenue" is frequently used to symbolize the advertising business.
